THE BUTCHART GARDENS

Dining at The Butchart Gardens
The Butchart Gardens is famous for it's unique floral displays. Over a million guests visit the gardens, each year. Many types of flowers, including tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, can be found at this 55-acre lush, colorful oasis. Ornamental birds, including parrots, ducks, and peacocks, also inhabit The Butchart Gardens property. The gardens are designated a National Historic Site of Canada.
When it comes to dining opportunities, The Butchart Gardens does not disappoint. Three options are available: The Dining Room Restaurant, The Coffee Shop, and the Blue Poppy Restaurant.

At The Dining Room Restaurant, lunch and dinner are served in a casual atmosphere. The season determines what is offered. High tea, with savory pastries, is served from October to Marth. From April thru September, afternoon tea is served, with lighter fare, such as fresh fruit.

At The Dining Room, the most popular treat is Butchart's signature ginger scones, served piping hot, straight from the oven. These are candied ginger scones, made with sweet homemade preserves and Devon-style cream.

Each Saturday night features a stunning fireworks show. And, you can have a gourmet picnic on the lawn just outside the restaurant, as you enjoy the festivities.

Note that you must have admission to the Gardens to access The Dining Room Restaurant.

At the Blue Poppy Restaurant, you can enjoy a casual dining experience in a former greenhouse. Sunlight floods through overhead skylights, adding to the spacious feel of the restaurant. Meals are prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients. If you have the opportunity, try the signature Cowichan Valley Chicken and pappardelle, with seared scallops and prawns. And, if it's not too crowded, be sure to pick a table with a window view of the Gardens.

The Coffee Shop is, as you might expect, richly decorated with flowers from The Butchart Gardens. Dine-in and outdoor seating options are available. The Coffee Shop's menau includes numerous types of coffee, hot chocolate, and tea. Sandwiches, salads, pastries, and desserts are also included.
